MOORHEAD — Moorhead police were looking for a man Friday night, Oct. 16, in a silver or light blue sedan who fired six shots out of his vehicle towards another man who was in a vehicle parked along a street in south Moorhead.

The victim, who was in the passenger's side of the vehicle, was hit by one bullet in his leg in gunfire that went through the door of the vehicle, according to Moorhead Police Sgt. Scott Kostohryz.

The drive-by shooting victim was conscious when emergency responders arrived and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, he said.

After the shooting at about 5:35 p.m. near an apartment building at 23rd Avenue South and 10th Street, the gunman drove off at high speed, Kostohryz said.

The shooter and the victim are believed to have known each other, he added. Witnesses said the vehicle may not have license plates.

Kostohryz said police have several leads into the suspect in the case, but had not released an identity as of 10 p.m. Friday.

It's believed there is no ongoing threat to the public, police said.

Police asked anyone with information to call Red River Regional Dispatch at 701-451-7660.
