FARGO — A Moorhead man faces several attempted murder charges in connection to a Friday drive-by shooting.

Clay County prosecutors filed three attempted murder counts — one first-degree and two second-degree charges, on Monday, Oct. 19, against 20-year-old Tyminderious Kevontau Hayes. He also was charged with using a dangerous weapon in a drive-by shooting. All four counts are felonies.

Court documents detail how Hayes allegedly used an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle to shoot another man around 5:30 p.m. Friday at 923 23rd Ave. S. in Moorhead. Court documents said the injured man was shot in the leg as Hayes drove at him at high speed.

The injured man was taken to Essentia Hospital for surgery. The injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

In total, six shots were fired, court documents said.

Hayes was arrested Saturday at a Fargo home after Red River Valley SWAT executed a search warrant. Police said he waived his Miranda rights and acknowledged he had an altercation with the injured man and another person on Friday in Fargo, court documents said.

Hayes is being held at the Cass County Jail. He is expected to be transferred to Clay County.

An attorney was not listed for Hayes as of Monday morning.
