FARGO — A Fargo man faces a felony terrorizing charge after police said he threatened to kill himself, prompting his family to barricade themselves in their rooms.
Cedric Earl Elder, 45, appeared Friday, Nov. 13, in Cass County District Court on the charge connected to the late Thursday domestic call in the 3200 block of 20th Street South.
An argument broke out between Elder and his wife after she refused to have "relations" with him, a criminal complaint said. After drinking several shooters, Elder became upset because his wife ignored him, the complaint said.
Elder threatened to take his own life and grabbed his shotgun, the complaint said. His wife and children locked themselves in their rooms as Elder walked around the apartment with the shotgun, according to the complaint.
Police said Elder appeared intoxicated as he tried to escape down the stairwell, but he was quickly caught by officers, a news release said.
No one was harmed, the complaint said. A shotgun was located, but the woman said Elder never pointed it at anyone, according to the complaint.
She said she was afraid that Elder would kill her since he was willing to kill himself, the complaint said.
