FARGO — Fargo police were first dispatched to an apartment building at 1526 21st Ave. S. on Saturday, Jan. 2, for an unresponsive male.
Once there, officers found 29-year-old Jake Davis in the stairwell of the apartment and began performing life-saving measures on him, police say. Davis was pronounced dead at the scene of a suspected overdose.
An investigation by police led them to another apartment where police then requested and served a warrant. Derek Pettersson, 32, of Fargo was then arrested for tampering with evidence and on an unrelated warrant, police say.
The Fargo Police Department wants to remind everyone about the North Dakota Overdose and Immunity Law that legally protects anyone from prosecution if they call 911 to report medical issues stemming from an overdose.
