FARGO — A Fergus Falls, Minn., man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting two girls in Fargo.

Cass County Judge Steven Marquart sentenced Shannon Leroy Pederson, 53, on Monday, Jan. 25, on two Class A felonies of gross sexual imposition. He faced up to 20 years in prison for each charge, though Marquart ordered Pederson to serve 15 years total. He will get 637 days credit for time served.

The charges were filed Aug. 15, 2019, after Fargo police started investigating a report of sexual assault from mid-April 2019. According to court documents:

Pederson inappropriately touched two children — one was 8 and the other was 13 — while they were lying in bed together and watching a movie on April 13, 2019. The younger child said she woke up on April 14, 2019, to Pederson removing her clothes before he further sexually assaulted her.

One child said Pederson started touching her inappropriately as early as Christmas 2018.
