CLAY COUNTY, Minn. — Two are in custody after an early morning vehicle pursuit in the rural Kragnes area of Clay County.
While performing routine patrol duties in the 10000 block of 15th St. NW, in rural Kragnes around 12:30 a.m., Thursday Feb. 18, a Clay County deputy turned around to observe a vehicle headed south, according to a release from the Clay County Sheriff's Office.
As the deputy turned around, the vehicle accelerated and sped away. When the driver failed to stop for the deputy's emergency lights and siren, a pursuit ensued.
The vehicle fled east on County Road 26 with speeds reaching 100 mph. A deputy used a tire deflation device at the intersection of Clay County Road 26 and Clay County Road 11, and the driver continued to flee for a short distance before driving off the road and into a ditch in the 4000 block of 80th St. N.
The driver, 19-year-old Braden Muck of Fargo, was taken into custody for felony fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle and underage drinking and driving and transported to the Clay County Correctional Facility, the sheriff's office said.
A passenger, 20-year-old Gustavo Garcia-Anguiano, also of Fargo, was also taken into custody on a Norman County arrest warrant, according to the sheriff's office.
