Police on patrol in downtown Fargo found three people with gunshot wounds in the 500 block of Broadway early Sunday morning, Feb. 21, the Fargo Police Department said in a statement.

The officers found the wounded after hearing gunshots in the area, according to police spokeswoman Jessica Schindeldecker. Ambulances transported the wounded to a local hospital and the extent of their injuries was unclear as of 1:30 a.m.

Police were not immediately available to confirm any other details of the shootings, including the precise location they happened. As of 1:30 a.m., police were still investigating what lead up to the shootings, Schindeldecker said.

There is no word if police know who the shooter is.

Nearly 30 evidence markers were scattered around the rear entrance of the Bismarck where police focused their investigation.

A disturbance reportedly occurred at the Bismarck Tavern, 522 Broadway N., around the time of the shootings, according to the Red River Regional Dispatch Center. Online dispatch logs show a medical emergency at the tavern at 12:12 a.m.

Dozens of emergency vehicles including police cars, fire trucks and ambulances could be seen at the rear of the Bismarck on Roberts Street North around the time of the shootings.

FARGO — Police blocked off Roberts Street North in downtown Fargo as they responded to a disturbance at or near the Bismarck Tavern that appears to have resulted in injuries.

About 12:09 a.m., a disturbance was reported at the Bismarck Tavern, 522 Broadway N., according to the Red River Regional Dispatch Center.

Online dispatch logs said a medical emergency was reported at the Bismarck Tavern at 12:12 a.m., and multiple ambulances reported to the scene.

An eyewitness reported seeing paramedics wheeling gurneys with people on them to the ambulances, which left the scene with police escorts and sirens on.

As of 1 a.m., police cars remained on scene outside the Bismarck Tavern's rear entrance on Roberts Street North. They unblocked the street after the ambulances left the scene.

The Red River Regional Dispatch Center said police are preparing a statement on the incident.
