FARGO — Police have released a video showing the vandalism of a statue of Jesus outside St. Mary's Cathedral in downtown Fargo as they continue to search for a suspect in the case.

Security camera video from the cathedral's front steps shows one person, who appears to be wearing a hooded sweatshirt and shorts, approaching the statue from the west on Sixth Avenue North at 3:24 a.m. on Saturday, April 17.

The person walks up to the statue, climbs up the statue's base and appears to hold a can of spray paint to its face for about 5 seconds. The person then jumps down from the base and runs away from the statue back toward Sixth Avenue North.

Police ask anyone with information on the case to call 701-241-1405 or text a tip and keyword FARGOPD to 847411.
