GRAFTON, N.D. -- Two men are back in the Walsh County Jail after authorities say they violently attacked jail staff Friday night.
Bo Carrier and Karlin Dahl escaped from the facility at 6:48 p.m.
A Facebook post from the Grafton Police Department said they were seen trying to break into cars near the jail.
A public alert was sent out and the Walsh County Sheriff's Office started a widespread search involving nine different law enforcement agencies, according to a release from Sheriff Ronald Jurgens.
Carrier and Dahl were found and taken back into custody just before 9 p.m.
Carrier was originally booked into jail on drug and fleeing charges.
Dahl was booked on a long list of charges including fleeing, reckless driving, and possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
We're still working to find out what additional charges they may face for the alleged escape and attack on jail staff.
The Grafton Police Department, Pembina County Sheriff's Office, Cavalier County Sheriff's Office, Cavalier Police Department, Cavalier County Sheriff's Office, North Dakota Highway Patrol, Grand Forks Narcotics Task Force, US Border Patrol, and Northeastern Regional UAV Team all assisted in the search.
