FARGO — Fargo police were searching Wednesday, June 9, for a suspect in the armed robbery of the M&H Convenience Store at 1602 Main Ave.
Detectives identified Hunter David Havisto, 21, of Fargo, as the suspect.
Havisto was considered armed and dangerous, and citizens should not approach him, police said. Anyone who sees him should call 911.
He was last seen wearing a dark hoodie with khaki pants and a patterned bandana.
Police searched for Havisto for hours after the 3:55 p.m. robbery at the M&H Convenience Store, first setting up a perimeter just south of the store and later moving the massive search with officers in patrol vehicles and on foot farther south to near 13th Avenue and University Drive.
Police were seen patrolling from about 4 p.m. until after 7 p.m. when they shut down the perimeter after warning residents to stay away from the area.
Police surrounded a house near the intersection of Fourth Avenue South and 15th Street South from 10:15 p.m. until about 11 p.m., but they left with nobody in custody.
A security camera image released by police shortly after the robbery shows a suspect, apparently Havisto, pointing a handgun across the counter.
The suspect got away from the convenience store with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.
The M&H store manager and police reported no injuries to employees, and the business was expected to reopen after a short time. A police car was seen parked in front of the business into the evening Wednesday.
