GARDNER, N.D. — Deputies from the Cass County Sheriff's Office used a drone to capture a burglary suspect in a cornfield near Gardner, about 25 miles north of Fargo, early Friday morning, July 16.

The department said a homeowner confronted Stephen Patrick Murphy, a 31-year-old Moorhead man, after he said he saw him carrying a box from a trailer on his property about 5:15 a.m.

Murphy then fled into a nearby cornfield.

Deputies set up a perimeter around the field and they were able to locate and arrest Murphy without incident with assistance from a drone. He was taken to the Cass County Jail.

After the arrest, the sheriff's office said a second suspect had apparently fled the scene prior to law enforcement arriving.
