FERGUS FALLS, Minn. — A Fergus Falls man was booked into the Otter Tail County Jail on suspicion of assaulting a child Thursday, July 29.
Shortly before 9 a.m., police responded to a report of an 11-year-old boy who had slipped, fallen and suffered a head injury in the 1100 block of Mill Street in Fergus Falls.
Officers called investigators to the scene and to the hospital where the boy was. Police determined the child's injuries were not consistent with the initial report, according to police.
Investigators learned the child had been assaulted, and they arrested 56-year-old Reggie Charles Bethel, police said.
Bethel lives in the same home as the boy, according to police. His relationship with the boy was not made public.
Bethel remained in jail Friday. He's suspected of first-degree assault, malicious punishment of a child and felony child endangerment.
