FARGO —A former Oak Grove Lutheran School track coach plans to change his plea in a child pornography case.

Daniel Mark Stoa, 34, is slated to appear Dec. 6 in Cass County District Court for a change of plea hearing. He was scheduled to have a hearing Thursday, Sept. 23, for a promoting or directing an obscene sexual performance by a minor charge and four counts of possessing certain material prohibited by North Dakota law.

The Thursday hearing has been canceled. Stoa pleaded not guilty to the charges in March.

The felony charges stem from a Jan. 19 investigation into Stoa. The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that a sexually explicit image depicting a child between the ages of 3 and 5 was connected to one of Stoa's online accounts, according to a criminal complaint.

Investigators found three videos and another image they determined was child pornography, the complaint said. The ages of children depicted in those files ranged from 6 to 14.

Agents connected the account to Stoa, according to the complaint. The BCI alleged he shared child pornography online and "engaged in sexually (explicit) chat on Twitter regarding sexual acts with children."

Police arrested Stoa in February. Oak Grove Lutheran School fired him the day he was arrested and barred him from campus, according to a news release.
