FARGO — Federal authorities are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for killing a Fargo man who went missing last year on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation.
Craig Melton, who was reported missing at age 34 in September 2020 after his roommate had not seen him in two days, was last seen in his car giving some men a ride to Belcourt, N.D., according to the Fargo Police Department.
It remains unclear who the men were or why the group traveled to Belcourt, which is on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation nearly 200 miles northwest of Fargo.
Melton's car was found in a wooded area on the Turtle Mountain Reservation in October 2020, according to his mother, Paula Rodgers, who said investigators told her the dashboard and back seat had been ripped out of the vehicle.
Multiple men were arrested in connection to the case and reportedly provided information to authorities, Rodgers said. That led to a grid search on 100 acres of property in Rolette County.
It's not clear if authorities suspect the men of killing Melton, whose body remains missing one year later.
