BISMARCK - A 17-year-old boy was arrested early Wednesday, Dec. 19, after a shooting at a trailer park in south Bismarck.

The Bismarck Police Department said that an 18-year-old Mandan woman was shot at about 11:40 p.m. Tuesday night in the roadway of the Holiday Park mobile home community.

Officers responding to the address found the 18-year-old woman with a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Bismarck police Sgt. Mike Bolme said the woman was awake and conscious at the time and gave officers information about the shooting. She is currently recovering at an intensive care unit at a local hospital.

Officers initially searched for the unnamed juvenile suspect before locating him a few hours after the shooting and making an arrest. Officer Pat Renz said North Dakota Highway Patrol provided a plane to assist in the search for the suspect.

A preliminary investigation of the shooting shows that there was some sort of disagreement between the suspect and victim, which led to the shooting, according to police.

Ray Moffit, who has lived in Holiday Park for 27 years, said he heard a single gun shot around 11 p.m. Tuesday. Shortly after, he said he looked out his kitchen window and the street where his home is was blocked off and officers were walking around with rifles.
