MOORHEAD — The Moorhead Police Department got a surprise lunch from the Moorhead branch of Gate City Bank, Wednesday, Jan. 9, marking their fourth annual National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.
The bank provided sandwich platters from Erbert & Gerbert's to Moorhead Police, and also delivered food to law enforcement in Hawley, Detroit Lakes, Alexandria and Fergus Falls.
"It was appreciated, it wasn't expected and it was very nice to have that happen," said Moorhead Police Sgt. Toby Krone. "A lot of people didn't even know it was National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day until other people recognized it so that's special."
The bank said it wanted to let police know they are appreciated by their community.
"It's important for us to show gratitude for those who serve the community and are making our community a great place to live," said Sherri Smith, Gate City Bank's senior vice president of relationship banking.
"We try to be in our community and let them know we care, that we recognize them and show that we appreciate them," she said.
