GRAND FORKS — A 24-year-old man has been jailed and is facing charges after investigators say they found inappropriate text messages between him and a 16-year-old girl.

If convicted, Gregory Wayne Lindeman of Grand Forks could face up to five years in prison on each charge of corruption of a minor and luring a minor by computer. A warrant was issued Friday, March 22, for his arrest. On Monday night, officials confirmed he was in the Grand Forks County Correctional Center.

An affidavit of probable cause said Lindeman was 23 when he was talking to a 16-year-old girl in February 2018. Investigators said there were sexual text messages on the girl’s phone with Lindeman.

Lindeman asked the girl for explicit photos and the affidavit said he planned to pick her up around midnight one night. He sent her texts the next day talking about how they had sex, according to the affidavit. The girl sent him a message concerned about her age and investigators said Lindeman knew she was a minor.
