BISMARCK — The deadline to renew North Dakota vehicle registrations or licenses that expired on or after March 1 is now Aug. 31.

In March, Gov. Doug Burgum issued an executive order that waived expiration dates for vehicle registration and driver’s licenses during the state of emergency declared due to the coronavirus pandemic. The order Tuesday, June 23, replaces the original order and sets a deadline at the end of August.

All renewal services are available by appointment only. Appointments can be scheduled at dot.nd.gov or by calling 1-855-633-6835.

The North Dakota Department of Transportation is focusing on customers whose vehicle registration or driver’s licenses expire between March 1 and Aug. 31.

More than 20,000 driver’s licenses and 48,000 vehicle registrations expire in that timeframe.
