Driver jumps out of moving car after pursuit through Clay County

The driver attempted to exit the vehicle while it was in motion. The unoccupied car hit a driveway approached and rolled.

BORUP, Minn. — A St. Paul man was injured when he jumped from a car after a high-speed chase in Clay County.

The Clay County Sheriff's Department was pursuing a 2006 Dodge Charger north on Highway 9 around 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 16. The pursuit was terminated just south of the city of Felton, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The Dodge continued travelling north at a high rate of speed into Norman County.

The driver attempted to exit the vehicle while it was in motion, the patrol said. The unoccupied car hit a driveway approach and rolled.

Lawrence Ivory, 30, sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening when he exited the moving vehicle. He was transported to Sanford in Fargo.


Alcohol was a factor in the incident, the patrol said.
