Driver killed in collision in central Minnesota

HEWITT, Minn. — A driver was killed in a collision Tuesday, April 30, after he failed to yield at an intersection in central Minnesota’s Todd County.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Joseph Strodel, 88, of Bertha, failed to yield while driving north on Todd County Road 23 east of Hewitt. He was fatally injured after striking a vehicle driven by Kristine M. Brown, 44, Eagle Bend, who was eastbound on Highway 210. Brown suffered injuries that were not life-threatening and was taken to a St. Cloud hospital.

Brown’s vehicle, a 2004 Ford Expedition, landed in the northeast ditch, while Strodel’s vehicle, a 2003 Buick Lesabre, was in the southeast ditch, and flipped onto its roof.
