DEVILS LAKE, ND--It's been a record setting semester at one local college.

2,072 students signed up for classes at Lake Region State College.

The previous record was set back in 2011 - and that number was just a couple dozen below this year's total.

The school credits the growth to expanding its nursing program at satellite campuses and its peace officer training program.

"I just feel over time the word is getting out, people are graduating for nursing in Grand Forks and Mayville or Peace Officer training that's not offered just not in Devils Lake, but in Minot, Bismarck, Fargo and Grand Forks," said Lake Region State College Spokeswoman, Erin Wood.

Lake Region College has also partnered with 60 high schools to offer credits before those teens step foot on campus.
