BISMARCK — The Environmental Protection Agency will host roundtable discussions on Tuesday, Dec. 4, in Bismarck with the state’s coal and oil industries and the North Dakota Department of Health.
The meetings, announced by the EPA on Monday, Dec. 3, are open to the public.
The discussions are part of EPA’s Smart Sectors program, a national effort that emphasizes partnering with industry to achieve better environmental outcomes.
“North Dakota’s mining and oil and gas producers play critical roles in contributing to our nation’s economic health and protecting our environment,” EPA Regional Administrator Doug Benevento said in a news release. “These discussions are opportunities for EPA to improve collaboration and develop new approaches to environmental challenges.”
A meeting with leaders from the lignite industry is from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Fort Union Room of Great River Energy, 1611 E. Century Ave.

A meeting with the oil and gas industry is from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Brightside Room of MDU Resources Headquarters, 1200 W. Century Ave.
Attendees are advised to allow time to sign in at reception when arriving.
