MOORHEAD — Crews were at the scene of a structure fire at a north Moorhead home on Thursday, July 1.
According to Moorhead Fire Department Battalion Chief Kayla Cross, the structure fire was reported at 1:45 p.m. at at 415 16th St. N.
Cross said the fire started in the garage before spreading to the rest of the house, causing extensive smoke damage.
The two residents of the home were able to get out safely, but Cross said one of the family's cats did not survive.

The home will not be ready for residents to return Thursday night, according to Cross.
The Moorhead Fire Department was assisted by fire crews from Fargo and Dilworth, FM Ambulance and the Salvation Army.
