FARGO — Onward Therapy and ProRehab are partnering with the North Dakota Brain Injury Network to offer free brain injury screenings as part of Brain Injury Awareness Month.

Screenings and consultations will be conducted on a walk-in basis from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, March 27, at MEDPARK, 4450 31st Ave. S.

Anyone suffering from headaches, blurry vision, mood swings, trouble remembering things or struggling to get to places on time could be exhibiting symptoms from a brain injury, according to a press release from the North Dakota Brain Injury Network.

"Surprisingly, not everyone realizes they have a brain injury, even when the symptoms are chronic and impact their daily lives," according to the press release.

A screening is not a diagnosis but could be informative for pursuing further medical care, according to the release.

Brain injuries can be chronic and are often a condition associated with mental illness, substance abuse, unemployment, corrections involvement and homelessness, according to the release.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
