Fargo-Moorhead government offices, libraries to close on MLK Day

Garbage pickup will be delayed a day in Moorhead, city officials said.

FARGO — Most government offices will be closed in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, Jan. 17.

The cities of Fargo and Moorhead announced their offices will observe the holiday by closing their doors.

The United States Postal Service will not have mail delivery or retail service for the holiday.

The courthouses in Cass and Clay counties will also be closed.

Libraries will be closed in the metro area as well as all Lake Agassiz Regional libraries in northwest Minnesota.

As for garbage service, there will be no pickup on Monday in Moorhead. Instead, Monday garbage and recycling routes will be picked up on Tuesday.

The Moorhead transfer station will also close on Monday.

Fargo will collect garbage on the holiday, and the sanitary landfill will be open.

West Fargo has regular garbage collection on Monday, and city offices will be open.

Despite the Fargo Cass Public Health building being closed, their COVID-19 testing site at 3051 25th Street South, Suite K, will be open regular hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday. Those testing for the first time are required to preregister at www.testreg.nd.gov
