FARGO — The Fargo Police Department is asking for the public's help to identify a
body found in a retaining pond Monday morning, May 22
, behind Fastenal off Main Avenue.
Police said that while the death does not appear to be suspicious, the initial autopsy was unable to identify who the man is.
According to police, the victim is a Black man about 6 feet and 230 pounds. He may be between 30 and 40 years old.
Authorities are not sure how long the body had been in the water before it was found.
Despite a search through missing person databases and talking with the homeless community, investigators have not been able to identify him.
"We would love to speed this investigation up and try to hopefully bring some closure to a family that might be missing someone," said Fargo Police Capt. Bill Ahlfeldt.
