Father-daughter legislative team announce reelection bids in south Fargo district

FARGO —A father and daughter who serve in the North Dakota Legislature announced on Tuesday, Jan. 7, that they are both running for reelection in November.

Jim Roers, who holds the District 46 Senate seat, and his daughter, Shannon Roers Jones, who holds the District 46 House of Representatives seat, were both first elected to office in 2016. Both are Republicans representing south Fargo.

Jim Roers was initially appointed to his Senate seat to finish the term of the late Tom Fisher in 2012. Jim Roers is founder and CEO of Roers Companies, which deals with construction, development and property management.

Roers Jones earned a master of business administration degree from University of St. Thomas and her law degree from the University of North Dakota School of Law. She's the general counsel for Roers Companies.
