Memorial Day event scheduled for Fargo National Cemetery

FARGO — The fourth annual Memorial Day event at the Fargo National Cemetery will be held on Monday, May 29 at 3 p.m.

Dan Stenvold, president of the North Dakota Vietnam Veterans State Council since 1999, will give the keynote address, the cemetery's volunteer committee announced.

Stenvold served as an Army crew chief on an M109 155MM Howitzer in Vietnam from May 3, 1969 to July 21, 1971.

He's also been on the National Board of Directors for the Vietnam Veterans of America since 2008 and helped some 1,900 Vietnam Veterans affected by Agent Orange.

The Harwood American Legion Post 297, 119th ANG Cadet Squadron, the Red River Veterans Band and the Fargo Memorial Honor Guard will also be part of the event.

The Fargo National Cemetery is a Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery.

It is located at 8709 40th Ave. N., County Road 20, Harwood, North Dakota.
