Moorhead man fired empty gun, shot man at downtown Fargo apartment, court docs allege
It's unclear if the victim will live.
FARGO — A Moorhead man fired an empty gun at another man before loading it and shooting the other man in the chest in downtown Fargo, according to court documents.
Schuyler Tyrie Ferguson, 24, appeared Monday, Oct. 3, in Cass County District Court on felony charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault and terrorizing in connection to a Friday shooting in an apartment at 606 ½ Main Ave. Court documents alleged Freguson critically injured Mohamed Abdullahi, who was sent to a hospital with a chest wound.
Ferguson and three others went to the apartment to play video games, according to a criminal complaint. Ferguson dry fired his gold pistol at several people, including Abdullahi, the complaint said.
Dry firing means a gun is not loaded with live ammunition when the trigger is pulled.
Abdullahi got upset and punched Ferguson in the neck, according to the complaint. Ferguson then took a step back, loaded his weapon and fired a bullet into Abdullahi’s chest, the complaint said.
Ferguson turned himself into authorities on Saturday.
Prosecutor Ryan Younggren said Abdullahi remained unconscious as of Monday, and it's unclear if he will survive.
