DRAYTON, N.D. — The North Dakota Highway Patrol has reported a fatal, two-vehicle crash that occurred around 7:43 p.m. Friday, May 20.
According to the NDHP, a 2008 Ford Expedition driven by a 65-year-old Drayton man, was headed west on North Dakota Highway 66, roughly two miles west of Drayton. At the same time, a 2010 Jeep Wrangler, driven by a 24-year-old man from Williston, North Dakota, was driving east on the same highway. The Ford Expedition entered the eastbound lane and struck the Jeep head-on.
The Williston man received non-life-threatening injuries, and was reported to have been wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He was transported to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. The Drayton man was pronounced deceased on-scene.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol plans to release the names of both drivers Saturday, May 21, after next of kin are notified. The crash remains under investigation.
