Drone footage taken Wednesday, May 15, shows the extent of damage to a home in Glyndon from a fire the night before. The homeowner said the fire was likely started by an electrical box in the garage and spread to the house, burning through the roof.
The fire was reported just before 6 p.m. at 934 130th St. S., just east of downtown Glyndon. The popping sound of what was believed to be exploding ammunition could be heard inside the home.
The charred frames of two cars could be seen in the pile of ash and rubble that was once the garage, with wisps of smoke still rising from the site Wednesday. Melted siding and insulation hanged off the home.
The recently-retired homeowner says he built the house and garage himself, and that he and his wife just celebrated 39 years living there on May 1.
