MOORETON, N.D. — Officials are investigating after a fire rural Richland County destroyed a farm shop Tuesday morning, May 21.
Richland County Emergency Manager Brett Lambrecht says crews first arrived on scene around 1:15 p.m. Monday after receiving a report of a fire in the attic of a farm shop owned by Richard Spellerberg, 2 miles west of Mooreton on Highway 13.
Lambrecht says the initial fire was put out after a few hours and a thermal scan of the attic at 8 p.m. showed no further signs of fire.
Crews were called back out at 6:50 a.m. when another fire was reported at the farm shop, and worked until 11 a.m. putting out the flames. The second fire destroyed the entire structure, which contained tractors, a truck and other farm equipment.
Nobody was injured in the fire and an estimated cost of damages wasn't immediately available. The cause of fire is under investigation by the North Dakota State Fire Marshal.
