FARGO — Authorities are investigating the cause of a structure fire after a Fargo apartment caught fire Monday afternoon, Sept. 28.
According to a release from the Fargo Fire Department, at 12:30 p.m., crews responded to a report of a fire at an apartment building at 219 12th St. S.
When crews arrived, they were able to spot smoke in a third floor window, the release said. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire.
The occupants of the apartment weren't home, but four animals died due to smoke inhalation, the fire department said.
All building occupants were evacuated safely and there were no injuries. The Red Cross is assisting two occupants who were displaced from the fire, the release said.
The fire department estimated the damage at $30,000, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
