FARGO — The Fargo Fire Department responded to a fire at a commercial building specializing in making specialty grain products Monday, Oct. 18.

According to a statement by the FFD, crews arrived at 4014 15th Avenue N. just before 8 p.m. When firefighters entered the building, they found that the fire was in a 100-foot grain dryer, extending from the dryer's vents out of the roof and into a nearby wall.

Officials say the second alarm was called by crews on the scene because the fire was in a large commercial building, with crews operating in zero-visibility conditions.

The secondary crews worked on controlling the smoke to improve visibility as well as direct smoke away from office and grain elevator spaces.

No injuries to employees or firefighters were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and a damage estimate will not be ready until the company determines what parts of the equipment involved in the fire were damaged.
