ARGUSVILLE, N.D. — A 53-year-old Gardner woman was seriously injured and is suspected of driving while intoxicated after she apparently sideswiped a semi on Interstate 29 about 14 miles north of Fargo on Friday afternoon, March 26, about 1:30 p.m., according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Teresa G. Fassino had to be extricated from her vehicle by the Harwood Fire Department after the crash and was taken by ambulance to Sanford Health with injuries that did not appear life-threatening, the patrol said.
The patrol said Fassino's vehicle and the semi, driven by Harpeet S. Shergill, 37, of Alberta, Canada, were both northbound on the interstate when Fassino crossed the center line and sideswiped the driver's side of the semi's trailer. She overcorrected her vehicle, went into the median and ended up in a southbound lane of I-29.
She wasn't wearing a seat belt, the patrol said. She is also suspected of having an open alcohol container in her vehicle.
Fassino's vehicle was a total loss, while the semi had minor damage.
