FARGO — State Rep. Karla Rose Hanson, D-Fargo, announced she will seek a second term in next year's election.
Hanson, who operates a corporate communication service, represents District 44 in north Fargo.
"My north side neighbors know me as a thoughtful leader who listens to all perspectives, stands up for those without a voice and is not afraid to take on big challenges," she said.
She led a bipartisan effort to get a "red flag" gun control bill passed that would have enabled families and law enforcement to request public safety protection orders from the courts that could help in prevent suicides, domestic violence and active shooters. Senate Majority Leader Rich Wardner, law enforcement and education groups across the state supported the effort, she said.
She also sponsored a bill that provides more glasses, denture and hearing aid assistance to veterans as well as a criminal justice pre-trial services pilot program.
Hanson and her husband have two children.
