Public invited to litter-pickup event in Moorhead

Volunteers are sought to meet at Romkey Park May 19 and help to pick up litter-strewn "trouble spots" throughout the community.

The City of Moorhead and Conservation Minnesota are co-hosting a litter-pickup event from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 19 at Romkey Park, 900 19th St. S., Moorhead.

Organizers will provide picks, garbage bags and ties to community members who wish to help collect the litter that accumulates throughout the winter and creates an eyesore after snowmelt.

Volunteers are asked to meet at the park, where organizers will distribute maps to help participants target litter trouble spots in the community. Granola bars and water will be provided. Volunteers are asked to bring gloves if they have them, as organizers will have a limited supply.

Although those who plan to attend do not need to register in advance, they are encouraged to email crystal.rayamajhi@moorheadmn.gov to help city staff gauge supply needs.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
