FARGO — A man was in custody Tuesday night, Sept. 10, after police say he fled the scene of a reported domestic incident in Moorhead and eventually ended up in a standoff with officers in the area of Jack Williams Stadium in Fargo.
At about 8:30 p.m. police said they located the man by the stadium, which is near the 12th Avenue North Bridge. An officer said when they tried to take the man into custody the man pulled out a knife, prompting officers to draw their guns. An ensuing standoff lasted for about 5 or 10 minutes, according to police.
Police were eventually able to detain the man and said just after 9 p.m. Tuesday night that they didn't know his name yet. They were also not yet sure how the man ended up in Fargo. Police were able to retrieve the knife the man threatened officers with, according to an officer on scene.
The man has been identified as 32-year-old William Baker. He was taken to Cass County Jail on North Dakota charges of terrorizing and preventing arrest, according to police.
He also faces one charge of domestic assault in Minnesota.
