DULUTH — A 40-year-old Cook woman was hospitalized Sunday after she was shot by her daughter, authorities said.

Dispatchers received a 911 call just before 4:30 p.m. saying a woman was on her way to Cook Hospital with a gunshot wound, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office reported in a news release. On the way to the scene in Morcom Township, deputies learned the suspect had access to a vehicle.

About 2 miles north of the address where the shooting was reported to have occurred, deputies found the suspect vehicle stuck in a ditch, with three people in a nearby vehicle. They detained the three people an identified one of them as the suspect.

The other two people were found to have no knowledge of the incident and had been trying to help the suspect after finding her stuck in the ditch, the Sheriff's Office said. The good Samaritans were released, while the suspect, described as a juvenile female, was transported to the St. Louis County Courthouse in Hibbing for processing. No other suspects are being sought, the Sheriff's Office said.
