COTTAGE GROVE, Minn. - A man was found dead in a car at a Cottage Grove gas station, after complaining of being ill, police say.
Police say 26-year-old Tylor David Johnson of Hastings was found Tuesday afternoon in a car in the Holiday parking lot at 8101 Hadley Ave.
Cottage Grove detectives and the Ramsey County medical examiner continued to investigate the death Wednesday, but it is not considered foul play or suspicious, police Capt. Pete Koerner said.
A gas station employee said that Johnson’s Pontiac Grand Am had been parked in the lot for more than nine hours. A store employee checked the vehicle about 3:10 p.m. and then called police.
Employees reported Johnson had come into the store to buy water and said he wasn’t feeling well, Koerner said.
Johnson may not have drawn people’s attention because his car was parked at the side of the station and because sometimes people pull into a gas station to rest, Koerner said.
Johnson’s body was found in the semi-reclined driver’s seat.
“It would just look like someone was napping in the car,” Koerner said.
