Minnesota man sentenced for stealing quarters from laundry machines in Fargo apartment buildings

Jesse Fett

FARGO — A Kerrick, Minn., man will avoid additional jail time for breaking into apartment buildings to steal quarters from laundry machines.

Cass County District Judge Tristan Van de Streek sentenced 37-year-old Jesse Ryan Fett on Tuesday, Feb. 12, to 18 months in prison, but the judge said he only had to serve 71 days in jail, which he already has done.

The sentence was handed down after Fett pleaded guilty to two felony counts of burglary and a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief in relation to multiple 2018 break-ins into apartment buildings owned by Goldmark Property Management and Van Raden Properties.

Fargo police investigated 18 reports of thefts from laundry machines between Nov. 23, 2018, and Dec. 11, 2018, according to court documents.

Police searched Fett’s vehicle and hotel room and found keys to apartment buildings that had been burglarized, a backpack containing 197 quarters, a drill, damaged screwdrivers, pieces of padlocks and two packages reported missing from the burglarized buildings, according to court documents.
