DETROIT LAKES — Kate Spaeth was known for her work with the Water Carnival and the Detroit Lakes chapter of the Minnesota Jaycees. In fact, she was known as, "the heart" of the service club.
The 39-year-old died unexpectedly over the weekend, just hours before she was to be named the 91st president of JCI Minnesota, who posted on Facebook about Spaeth's passing.
The cause of death is unknown.
Friends of Spaeth in Detroit Lakes are already preparing to offer a scholarship in her memory and started a GoFundMe to accept donations.
