FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. — A doctor who formerly worked at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls and who has provided medical assistance to youth hockey organizations in Michigan and Minnesota for decades is facing allegations of sexual misconduct in Michigan.

Zvi Levran is charged in 47th District Court in Farmington Hills with four counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct by use of force or coercion and three counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct by use of force or coercion.

The Farmington Hills Police Department said in a news release that the charges were the result of a complaint police received from a 19-year-old male following a medical examination at the doctor's home office in Farmington Hills on Oct. 18.

The male alleged that during the examination, Levran sexually assaulted him, according to the news release, which said Levran provided medical assistance to youth hockey organizations in Michigan and Minnesota for the past 20 years.

During a court appearance, Levran pleaded not guilty to the charges, and conditions for release set by the court included $100,000 cash or surety bond.

Levran was also restricted to home confinement if released from jail, and he will have to wear an electronic monitor.

He encouraged anyone with information relevant to the case or who has knowledge of similar incidents to contact the police department at 248-871-2610.

"Our No. 1 goal is to keep our community safe and make sure victims feel safe coming forward," Karen McDonald, prosecutor for Oakland County, Michigan, said in the statement released by Farmington Hills police.

Katie Johnson, vice president for marketing and communications for Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls, said Levran started employment with Lake Region Medical Group in late 2011, and his last day was June 29, 2018. During that time, he provided services through the Lake Region Medical Group at Lake Region Healthcare, she said.

Johnson said patients who have concerns are encouraged to reach out to Lake Region Healthcare's patient relations department at 218-736-8027.
