ST. PAUL — Forum News Service on Wednesday, Feb. 2, will host a conversation between Minnesota's legislative leaders, Gov. Tim Walz and reporters from all over the state.
During the virtual news conference, journalists will ask Minnesota lawmakers about the most pressing issues facing lawmakers as they return to St. Paul for the 2022 legislative session.
In addition to Gov. Walz, legislators scheduled to participate include:
- House Majority Leader Ryan Winkler, DFL-Golden Valley
- House Minority Leader Kurt Daudt, R-Crown
- Senate Majority Leader Jeremy Miller, R-Winona
- Senate Minority Leader Melisa López Franzen, DFL-Edina
Lawmakers this legislative session are set to continue the state's efforts to mitigate COVID-19 and its affect on Minnesota's health and the economy, negotiate a historic local jobs and projects bill and determine how the state should spend a roughly $7.75 billion budget surplus.
They'll also face a Feb. 15 deadline to redraw the state's voting maps for the next decade, a feat that they've not been able to solve in decades.

It's one of the only — if not the only — events that puts the leaders of the state's divided government into a space with Minnesota reporters to answer questions on any topic.
Forum News Service Capitol Correspondent Dana Ferguson will moderate the conversation.
