Granite Falls authorities investigating four suspected arson fires in past week

Four fires have been reported in the Henry Hill Apartments in Granite Falls since July 1. There's a reward offered for information that leads to the identification of a suspect.

GRANITE FALLS, Minn. — Granite Falls authorities have offered a reward for information that may help to identify a suspect in a series of arson fires in the city in the past week.

Schlangen was not on duty as a police officer at the time, but a felony conviction brings the automatic revocation of his peace officer license in the state of Minnesota.

Four fires have been reported since July 1 in the Henry Hill Apartments, 150 Seventh Ave., near downtown Granite Falls, according to a Facebook post from the Granite Falls Fire Department.

The department is investigating the fires along with the Granite Falls Police Department and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal.

The staff and residents at Henry Hill Apartments are assisting in the investigation.

“Any and all information from the public on the cause of these fires is needed to ensure the safety of residents. Even if you feel information you have is insignificant, please share it anyway,” the post said.

The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff's Office, Avera Granite Falls Health Center Ambulance and Upper Sioux Police Department are also assisting.
