Moorhead man found dead after train strikes car in Cass County, Minn.

SYLVAN TOWNSHIP, Minn. — A Moorhead man was found dead Thursday, April 13, following a crash involving a train and a car in Sylvan Township.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a BNSF Railway train was eastbound on the tracks at West Gull River Road Southwest between Pillager and Baxter. A 2002 Chrysler Sebring that was on the tracks was struck by the train.

The crash was reported just after 2:30 p.m. Thursday, and Lance Keith Beachem, 53, of Moorhead, was found dead at the scene.

BNSF, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, the Pillager Fire Department and North Memorial Health Ambulance assisted at the scene.
