NISSWA, Minn. — A motorcycle driver died Saturday, Aug. 6, after striking a boat being towed near a public water access.

The motorcycle was driving south along Highway 371 in Nisswa approaching Nashway Road when it struck a boat being towed by George Michael Lentsch, 62, of St. Paul at 7:02 p.m., Minnesota State Patrol said in a release.

Lentsch was attempting to cross Highway 371, going east, and pulled out into the path of the motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle, Alex Alden Nelson, 26, of Akeley, died in the crash. Lentsch was unhurt.

Nelson was not wearing a helmet, the state patrol said.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
