FERGUS FALLS, Minn. — The body of an unknown person was recovered from the Otter Tail River in Fergus Falls by law-enforcement authorities Saturday.
The city's dispatch center received a call late Saturday morning that a deceased individual had been discovered in the river between Robert Hannah Park and Broadway Avenue, according to the Fergus Falls Daily Journal.
A group of kayakers discovered the body midstream and called 911 to report their findings.
Fergus Falls police, fire and emergency medical services responded, along with the Otter Tail County Water Patrol. The body was recovered from the river and was sent to the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy, according to the Journal.
The newspaper reported that the deceased individual appears to have been in the river for an extended period of time.

The person's identity is still unknown, a police spokesman told The Forum Sunday.
Fergus Falls police are working with agencies across the region for any possible leads. Authorities also say they will release identifying information about the individual once they receive results of the autopsy.
