Moorhead man arrested for assault and burglary
Both incidents happened early Tuesday morning, Oct. 19, according to Moorhead police.
MOORHEAD — A Moorhead man is in the Clay County Jail after police say he robbed a car dealership, then assaulted someone in a neighborhood two blocks away Tuesday morning, Oct. 19.
According to Moorhead police, Alfred Thompson, 29, forced his way into a building in the 700 block of 32nd Avenue South at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, which is about two blocks away from the Holiday gas station on 30th Avenue South.
Thompson was gone before police arrived, according to officers.
Hours later, at 5:10 a.m., police were called to a disturbance in the 700 block of 30th Avenue South, where they found someone who was an assault victim.
The victim had serious but non-life threatening injuries, Moorhead police said.
Officers arrested Thompson as he tried to run away from the scene of the assault, police say.
He's facing charges for third-degree burglary and second-degree assault at this time, but Moorhead police have forwarded the case to the Clay County Attorneys' Office for formal charges.
