Moorhead Police looking for help in solving car burglary, arson cases

Moorhead Police are asking for the community's help in finding evidence in home video surveillance systems following vehicle break-ins where some were intentionally set on fire.

MOORHEAD — The Moorhead Police Department is looking for information regarding recent reports of vehicle break-ins in south Moorhead.

In the early morning hours of Monday, Jan. 18, Moorhead Police responded to a report of someone entering parked, unlocked vehicles in the 1200 block of 19 1/2 St. S. During these break-ins, police say property was removed from the vehicles, some of which appeared to have been intentionally set on fire, police said in a public post on their Facebook page .

Now the police department is asking residents who live in the area of 12th Avenue South and 19 1/2 Street South to check their video surveillance systems for any suspicious people or car prowlers in the area, specifically between 1:30 and 3:30 a.m.

Residents who have any suspicious activity or suspects on video are encouraged to contact the Moorhead Police Department at 218-299-5120.

The Moorhead Police would also like to remind residents to lock their car doors and avoid leaving valuables inside their vehicles.
